For many of today's older wakeboarders the sport didn't actually exist in its current form when they were kids and so they had no idea what things like wakeboards and wakeboard towers were until they were older because they hadn't been invented yet. This isn't the case for the new generation of wakeboarding enthusiasts who have started to crowd the lakes where events are held even though they're often only in their teens. Many of these young wakeboarders have been on the water with a wakeboard since before they were ten years old and have loved the water their entire lives.
